The Department of Pharmacy is a vibrant teaching and research environment within the School of Applied Sciences and brings together a team of experienced and professional academic staff, with excellent local, national and international profiles. We offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses contributing to the development of the profession. Being uniquely situated in both science and practice, we deliver truly multidisciplinary research across the breath of pharmacy-related disciplines, in our newly constructed laboratories equipped with instrumentation needed to undertake cutting edge research and with our collaborators across the School, universities and globally.

Biomarker Research

The Centre for Biomarker research led by Dr Patrick McHugh, looks to explore the underlying aetiology of many diseases, including CNS-related conditions. Our ambition is to develop biomarkers to help improve the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of such disease.
