Spot-checks

We expect you to attend your timetabled sessions in full. The Student Engagement and Attendance Monitoring (SEAM) team will periodically carry out a ‘spot check’ inspections. You will not be warned in advance about this. During this attendance check, the school will compare the student card swipe records against the attendance register. Should you need to leave a class early, you must speak to your tutor or session leader.

If you swipe into a timetabled session and leave before the end of a session without informing the session leader of the reason you need to leave, and a register is taken, you will have breached the Student Disciplinary Regulation. As an initial warning you will receive an email on your student email (Unimail) instructing you to report to the International Office in Student Central with your student ID card. This is so we can discuss the reasons for your spot check discrepancy and verify that you are present in Huddersfield and not out of the UK or working when you should be studying. 

A spot-check discrepancy may lead to a withdrawal from your course and your Student visa being curtailed/cancelled.
