Teacher Degree Apprenticeship - Secondary Maths

Who can apply

1. Sixth-form and college leavers who have secured a job as a Trainee Teacher (through the Teacher Degree Apprenticeship).
2. The TDA is also a progression route for existing employees in a school and it is open to people from adjacent occupations to teaching (e.g. teaching assistants, Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs)).
3. Those looking for a career change who have secured a job as a Trainee Teacher (through the Teacher Degree Apprenticeship).

How to find a Teacher Degree apprenticeship job

Courses for new teaching apprenticeships will be published on Find Teacher Training in Spring 2025, with training due to start in Autumn 2025.

Funding

• The training and qualification is fully funded by the Government Levy.
• Trainee teachers will spend an average of 40% of their time (two days a week) studying for their degree with the University (‘off-the-job training’).
• Apprentices are employed as a teacher degree apprentice and are paid at the unqualified teacher pay scale (UTP). The employer will pay the apprentice’s salary.
