Matt Mills

Director of Student Services

Matt has a passion for ensuring students get the best out of their university experience. From 2008 to early 2017, he was Chief Executive of the Huddersfield Students' Union.

Matt Mills is originally from the Dearne Valley in South Yorkshire, attending both Wath Pope Pius Comprehensive School and Wath Comprehensive School.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in politics from the University of Leicester and completed a Master's degree in politics at the University of Warwick. In 2011 he was awarded an MBA from the University of Huddersfield with distinction. He is a Chartered Manager and Fellow of the CMI.

Matt has a passion for ensuring students get the best out of their university experience. From 2008 to early 2017, he was Chief Executive of the Huddersfield Students' Union. Previously he has led a local Citizens Advice Bureau, been a business controller for IKEA, a paid political organiser, service manager at Nottingham University Students' Union, a Regional Officer for the National Union of Students and Youth Volunteering Coordinator.

Matt has responsibility for Student Services comprising Disability & Wellbeing Support, Careers and Employability and Faith Provision. He chairs the University Equality and Diversity Enhancement Group, which focuses upon student support and teaching and learning.

He has been a member of a number of local voluntary organisations, and presently is chair of governors at King James School Almondbury.

One of Matt's first jobs was an outdoor education instructor, he has held on to that passion, in any spare time he will be out cycling, walking, camping with his family.
